We overthink everything. Reflecting on New Year’s resolutions and the systems I’ve built to improve my habits, I realize that most are either unnecessary or unsustainable.
The problem isn’t finding the perfect system—it’s committing to it. Without dedication, no solution will work. So, what can we do instead?
One obstacle is our perception of time. We often underestimate how small, consistent actions can compound into meaningful change. This year, I’m approaching my habits differently: by analyzing them and visualizing their long-term effects. I’ll ask myself, Where will this path lead me?
To make this concept tangible, I created a small reminder page on my website. It’s a simple tool to reflect on the compounding effect of habits. By predicting the outcomes of negative actions, I hope to make them less appealing. And by visualizing the rewards of positive habits, I aim to strengthen them.
Like most people, I have habits to nurture and others to break. But this time, my focus isn’t just on achieving results—it’s on enjoying the journey and appreciating every small step forward.
Where will your habits take you this year?
